About This Cut
The Tri-Tip Roast is a flavorful, versatile cut that’s prized for its rich, beefy taste and satisfying texture. It’s ideal for grilling or oven roasting and is large enough to feed a family or serve at gatherings. This triangular cut is popular for its balance of tenderness and bold flavor.



Popular cooking methods for the Tri-Tip Steak include grilling or roasting to medium-rare (130–135°F), then resting before slicing. Sear over high heat to form a crust, then finish over lower heat or in the oven. Always slice against the grain, starting at the tip and adjusting your angle mid-cut, to maximize tenderness. It’s also excellent when smoked or marinated overnight for added depth of flavor.

The More You Know:
The Tri-Tip comes from the bottom sirloin subprimal, which is located toward the back of the cow, just above the flank. This area is moderately exercised, resulting in a lean yet tender cut that’s naturally flavorful.
